From the "Better Late Than Never Department", I have finally made some of my film scores available for download for a modest price. There's still more to come, and I'll make them available as soon as possible.
"King Of California" Premieres at Sundance
Posted on January 25th, 2007
The long journey of working on King Of California is nearing the end. It premiered last night at the Eccles Theater in Park City,Utah at the Sundance Festival to fantastic audience reaction and great reviews. First Look Pictures has picked up the U.S. distribution and a release date should be forthcoming, probably fall ‘07.
It has been a long road on this one, about a year all tolled, as I began my involvement in pre-production because of on screen performances that needed to be filmed. I am looking forward to all the new things that this year will bring.
A Brief Introduction

My name is David Robbins. I am a composer and musician. These days I write mostly movie scores, though I cut my teeth on rock n roll as a lead guitar player, and still write and perform from time to time.
I’ve written scores for a few handfuls of movies, most of which I am really proud of. If you wanna get details, see the Credits page.
I have recently finished the score to “King Of California” using a host of cool instruments including ukulele, pump organ, glass armonica, banjo, musical saw, guitars, upright bass, native American Indian hand drums, and a couple of cellos and whistling thrown in for good measure. The movie should be released around late summer and hopefully will do well, as it’s quite a good movie.
Once upon a time I formed and played in several rock bands, none of which amounted to much commercial success, but were always sources of great satisfaction, and sometimes great frustration. I am currently in a band called Gob Roberts which plays a great assortment of original and cover songs. Gob Roberts is fronted by the illegitimate twin brother of Bob Roberts, the right-wing, folk-singing politician from Pennsylvania that was chronicled in a documentary some years back called “Bob Roberts”. Gob is essentially the antithesis of Bob. We have reclaimed Bob’s songs by restoring the original lyrics and hard rock music. We are definitely part time - we manage only a few gigs a year. One of our highlights was opening for Death Cab For Cutie and Pearl Jam on the Vote For Change Tour in 2004. No immediate plans for more performances, but we hope to get together sometime soon to record and do more shows.
